West Wharton County Hospital District employs a team of healthcare industry specialists who have years of experience in various roles within the industry. All of our staff are fulltime employees of the Hospital District and we do not use any contracted services in our QIPP program. Our staff has extensive experience with HHSC's QIPP program, including some who have not only worked with QIPP since its inception, but also have experience in the programs that evolved to QIPP as we know it today.
Our team operates a QIPP program that is a success both to the hospital district and our QIPP nursing facility partners. This success leads directly to increased funding to support the local community's healthcare needs, and also to improve the quality of care provided to thousands of nursing facility residents across Texas.
Johnny Thompson, administrator of WWCHD, has over 25 years of experience in long-term care and rural healthcare. Johnny started his career as a staff accountant at a management company which owned and operated multiple nursing facilities across Texas. Over the next 25 years, he has held positions as Controller, Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer in the healthcare industry.
Johnny has been involved with the QIPP program since its inception, and was also involved with its predecessor program, the Upper Payment Limit (UPL).
Since joining WWCHD in November 2023, Johnny's goals have been to continue providing rural healthcare and meeting the needs of the communities that we represent.
